EFFECTS OF ULTRASOUND ON THE PROCESSES OF MIXING, EXTRACTION AND HEAT TRANSFER IN BIOTECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEMS
Project idea: With the help of ultrasonic radiation, without additional mechanical means that cause contamination of the working fluid and excessive injury to microorganism, an energetically active, turbulent state is created in the working volume, spatial movement of the air-liquid mixture, artificial increase of the time of the interaction of oxygen bubbles with the working fluid and the absence of the additional structural elements in the working volume of the housing to regulate the technological process.
MASS TRANSFER PROCESSES DURING THE DISSOLUTION AND CRYSTALLIZATION OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCES UNDER ULTRASONIC CONDITIONS
Project idea: The use of ultrasonic accelerates the process of crystallization centers formation from 5-8 hours to several seconds. The acceleration the process of crystallization processes is determined at the cavitation stage, when the dispersing effect is greatest. The complex nature of hydrodynamic and mass transfer processes occurring in solid-liquid system is described by mathematical dependencies. The use of ultrasonic radiation makes it possible to refuse thermal devices, the presence of which, to one degree or another, will lead to the appearance of a temperature gradient in the working fluid, and in some cases even lead to the creation of a technological risk.
FLUID FLOW IN CAPILLARIES DURING THE EXTRACTION OF BIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES FROM PLANT MATERIAL UNDER ULTRASONIC CONDITIONS
Project idea: Under the influence of cavitation arising in the ultrasonic field, the penetration of the extractant into narrow cavities and crevices is accelerated and deepened. Evaluates the role of the sound-capillary effect on the velocity of liquid in the capillaries of plant material. Determines the effect of the rate of wetting of plant material and the rate of mass transfer processes during extraction. Provide advice on the design of ultrasonic extraction equipment.
MASS TRANSFER PROCESSES DURING THE CULTIVATION OF HUMAN CELL CULTURES
Project idea: An essential technological feature of the cultivation of cell cultures is the fact that most of the facilities used to obtain active pharmaceutical ingredients are demanding of the aseptic environment, highly sensitive to excessive shear stresses, and are damaged by air bubbles. Thus, the task of designing and developing optimal, efficient, safe and high-performance bioreactors is realized on the basis of hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer research. The direction is relevant for the formation of principles of pharmaceutical engineering for the development of designs of industrial bioreactors for the cultivation of cell cultures.
